CARMICHAEL LYNCH / INTERN PROGRAM

THE NEW HIRE ZINE

For several years in a row, I took the lead in developing the internship program alongside our head of creative operations, Ashley Solem. As a very large agency, we struggled to grow talent outside of the typical “sink or swim” mentality and never had projects that interns could fully sink their teeth into and learn due to the rapid speed in which our top heavy agency operated. Another big hurdle was connecting in a remote world and making sure the interns were seen by the senior level creatives around them. My passion project over was to turn onboarding into a summer project, by empowering our intern class to connect with the creatives around them and learn as much about the creative process, how agencies work, and each other as possible. They then took the resulting information and compiled it into a risoprinted zine to pass down to the next class as an onboarding handbook. Needless to say, I learned a few new things as well. Read it here (while checking out the portfolio of art director Mia Pallazza who is a dream to work with).
